56 Years Of Burlington Baseball

  1952 - 2008

The BBSA began in 1952 as the Burlington Little League.  It was founded by a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to provide a baseball program for young boys.  There were 4 teams at the beginning. We have since grown into a program for all youth in Burlington and in 1997 we changed our name to BBSA, in order to include baseball, softball and the Babe Ruth Program.  The volunteer spirit is very much alive today, as the Board of Directors in 2001 helped 1,100 children participate in our program.  There were 78 teams in our Spring League last season.  Each team had at least one manager and one coach, which means over 160 adults volunteered their time to help our children enjoy the sport.

The BBSA is affiliated with Babe Ruth League, Inc. and the Cal Ripken Baseball Little League.  Our goals are to promote fun, good sportsmanship and personal respect.  And in doing so, we hope to instill the ability to play at one's potential, as well as a true understanding and love of the game.

In 2002, our 11 Year Old Summer Travel Baseball Team won the Massachusetts State Championship!   In 2000, our 11 Year Old Summer Travel Baseball Team won the Cal Ripken New England Championship! And last year, the 10 and 12 Year Old Summer All Star Teams won the Bay State Tournament of Champions!
We also sponsor many other Summer Travel Teams in the Ripken, Softball and Babe Ruth programs, and we have a coed In-Town Summer League which is less competitive and more relaxed, and is great for those players who want to play summer ball but cannot or choose not to commit themselves to an entire summer baseball schedule because of family vacation, camp, and other conflicts.

We request both positive and negative feedback from all families who participate in our leagues.  You can write us with questions and comments at PO Box 871, Burlington, MA.  Or call us at (781) 221-5838 or (781) 273-5433.  Finally, you can E-mail us by clicking "BBSA2008".
