Ripken 10 Year Old Tournament Team
District Champion 2006
State
Runner-up
Burlington beat Bedford in the finals of the
District Tournament to advance to the State Tournament in Winchester.
Burlington won their first two in the states, then overcame adversity
and a path through the loser’s bracket to advance to the final night
against Pembroke. Needing to sweep a doubleheader, Burlington won
the first game, forcing the winner-take-all game. Burlington
fought to the end, forcing extra innings, but could not come out on top.
The tournament director and state Ripken director both said they could
not remember a better or more exciting final night of the state
tournament.
