A message from the Softball Commissioner

Some basic guidelines & rules for the Junior Softball to ensure Fun and Safety are as follows:

GUIDELINES :

Remember this is Jr. Softball. Most of these girls are playing for the first time or for only the second year; ENJOYMENT and SKILL DEVELOPMENT are the priorities, nothing else.

Safety.  An ideal season for me is when all the girls have fun and nobody gets hurt.

Coaches are to display sportsmanship at all times.  If this doesn't occur, please let me know.

All players must completely fill out a medical release form.  Your team manager will distribute this form prior to the first practice.

RULES:

Home Team is to choose a neutral umpire.  If no volunteers are to be found, the two managers shall select the umpire.  Judgment calls by the umpire are final.

Each player is to play 3 innings per game.

No on-deck hitters are allowed.

Jr. Softball uses the perpetual batting order.  The batting order may be changed once during the season, and a new order may be substituted for the playoffs.  All batting order changes must be submitted to me.

All base runners, hitters, and any player acting as a base coach must wear a helmet at all times.

No bunting or stealing is allowed.  Swinging bunts are allowed.

No player may pitch more than 6 innings in two consecutive games combined.

No player can pitch more than 4 innings in any game

A pitcher must be removed is she walks 4 batters in a row, or six batters in one inning.

The ball is considered dead upon the ball being thrown back into the infield.

Eight players is considered a legal lineup.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming season, and if you have any questions, please contact me.
